It is a pleasure to share my story with all my Adlandpro friends. So who is that lady hidding behind a picture of a panda bear?
THE FORMATIVE YEAR
My life was shaped by my the small village of Pandora, Ohio found in the middle of corn, melon, potato fields. It was a sheltered life with little knowledge of the outside world. I was born the youngest of 6 children to a father (Swiss) and mother (English) who struggled to support us. My father was a day laborer always seeking work and my mother was a full time house wife. I earned my FIRST bicyle in Jr. High school while saving my lunch money I worked in the cafeteria to earn my lunch. That was my first lesson in economics. If you want something bad enough, earn it.
School was very difficult as I had no example in my homelife of learning and the importance of education. In Jr. High I was offered the opportunity to spend time helping in a second grade class. I admired the way the teacher worked with her class, and thus my destiny was determined. My grades improved and the desire for an education became my focal point. I never turned back but persued all the courses necessary to get me into college.
We were tested in the Senior year to see what our apptitude or job skills were. When I told the man I wanted to be a teacher, he said I could never make it through college. My next choice was to be a police officer. " No " he said, "you have to live in a big city, anyway women can't be police officers." That was when I discovered a very obvious part of my personality. "No one tells me I can't"...the strong willed child won out. (It was a proud moment when my neice, a generation later became a police officer and earned recognition as the officer of the year in Lima, Ohio).
My father offered to pay my way through college if I would attend our Church college, just 6 miles from home. Because a friend was going to Bowling Green State University I was determined to follow. She didn't go and I went. Another lesson in life, don't do as others do, be your own self. I transferred to Bluffton College (Father knows best) and allowed my father to pay most of my way. I earned a B.S degree in Elementary Education and then taught for 3 years.
Now I must backtrack to the most delightful time of my life. While in college, I worked summers at Mackinac Island Michigan. It was here that my eyes were opened to the world. I was away from my sheltered small town life, meeting people from all over the world. The govenor of Michigan has his only home on the island. There were the boat races that ended at Mackinac Island. Cruise ships stop at the Island. Famous people came to the island. I saved my money in a fudge box and when it was full, a money order was purchased to be sent home. When I finished college, I owed my parents, $1,500.
This was a good lesson in independence and responsibility. I stayed out of trouble and earned my education....so my parents must have taught important values. NOTE: Most college students today owe in excess of $40,000 at the end of 4 years.
YOUNG ADULT LIFE
I married a dashing young, bright student at the University of Michigan. He showed me how to live the good life even tho I was putting him through school. We both taught school near Ann Arbor Michigan. Then I stayed home to raise 2 children that we adopted. We were the nice young couple with 2 lovely children, so respected in the community. Little did I realize that this would soon crash. He became a full fledged alcoholic, unfaithful husband, which turned me into what it now called a "co-dependent". All the rescueing I did was to no avail as he deserted us.
Upon return to Ohio, I returned to the only thing I knew, teaching. However, I did not have a valid teaching certificate. I was able to secure a teaching position in a special education school with the promise that I would get special training. My speciality then was in behavioral management which was used for 23 years in the classroom. In the meantime I remarried after finding a man who was raised in the same enviornment and just a few miles from my hometown. After 17 years he developed a tumor on his optic nerve, became blind, unable to walk, and suffered dementia. Upon his death, not wishing to return to teaching I found employment in a warehouse.
THE INTERNET
ADLANDPRO
I arrived here as many do placing a free ad. Then I receive an invitation to be a friend. Now I find there are forums with people joking and telling how to make money. But nothing is happening. On a conference call, I hear "Write articles to help people".
Next came recipes from people around the world, The Adlandpro Cookbook. Now I was starting to see that helping people was helping me.
Asking opinions proved to be a turning point. Over 6,000 people have opened the forum "Cool or Confusion". All of a sudden, this quiet person had stirred all of Adlandpro with the largest forum participation and "Lost, Stolen, kidnapped" proved that through humor and working together we get things done. In one week, 3 invitations to be a featured person were offered to me. All were declined. Your friendship is all the honor I desire.
So here's what I am about.
As I learn about tools here, I share with my friends
I am gathering persons here who are networking with me and together we will learn and support each other.
Here are my forums: Go visit, enjoy, learn, share.
Behavioral management is the science of understanding why people do what they do and how to move people to do what one would like them to do. We will be applying this science in our new group of networking individuals at : http://www.optinmastercourse.com/mahofst.html. You are invited to join our master course. It is free with re-branding rights at $27.
and thank you for letting us know more about you.
